Cost of a Web Design

For good reason when a small or growing company brings up the cost of their web design to the table it can make people sweat. You shop around and around, read reviews, price out your costs, and wonder is this cost effective? Creative Clarity is no stranger to this step in budgeting, but are you?

Myths

Web design is cheap!  Unfortunately this is a myth perpetuated by many side job designers who bid low costs in order to get more projects. The problem is, are your low costs still getting you the benefits of excellent design and do those costs include maintenance and management. Chances are they don’t.

It’s quick and easy. My son’s friend can do it for us in a week!  The common misconception about web design is that it is and simple project. Chances are if you’re web design is finished quickly, there is a lot to your web site that is missing. Things like SEO, single sign on integration, and e-commerce could be left out and your just left with one page of minor information.

I don’t need a website done by a professional company. I can do it myself. There’s plenty of sites that offer templates with the promise of ease of use, but are you cookie cutter? Are low costs worth losing what makes your brand unique?

The fact is, unless you’re web presence is two steps ahead of your competition then you may be two steps behind. Creative Clarity works at its best when we help smaller and growing companies start their web site or redesign their current one. Why is this? Because as a small company we know the stress costs can bring. We are very upfront when we ask what is a client’s budget. These things can be costly. But they don’t have to empty the purse.

When we quote a company for the cost of web design, we base it off many different factors and sometimes these factors can raise or lower the price. Below are two tables. They show what you could expect from most web design and consulting companies. They are rough estimates, not exact prices.

In table one you start to see where the costs can add up. Why? Well the truth is not only are you paying for the product, but as you require more and more, you start paying for the developer.
